Led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/people\/517\/korosteleva-elena\">Professor\nElena Korosteleva<\/a>, in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devstudies.cam.ac.uk\/ourpeople\/professor-siddharth-montu-saxena\">Dr\nSiddharth Saxena (COI, Cambridge)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/rosalind-beeching\/\">Rosalind\nBeeching (Project Manager, Kent)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/centralasia.group.cam.ac.uk\/People\/KeyOfficers\">Prajakti Kalra (Research\n&amp; Communication Officer, Cambridge)<\/a>, the <strong>GCRF COMPASS<\/strong> consortium\ninvolves six Research Institutions, 24 members of staff and 100 affiliates. For\nits success it owes especially to the younger generation of scholars including but\nnot limited to <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/dr-irina-petrova\/\">Dr\nIrina Petrova<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/muzaffer-kutlay\/\">Dr\nMuzaffer Kutlay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/research.sociology.cam.ac.uk\/profile\/dr-diana-t-kudaibergenova\">Dr\nDiana Kudaibergenova<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/asya-kudlenko\/\">Dr\nAnastasiya Kudle<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/asya-kudlenko\/\">nko<\/a> for\ntheir incredible enthusiasm, dedication and scholarship!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has been recognised\nby the judge\u2019s panel of THE Awards 2021 for its creative collaborations,\nimaginative communication of research results, and tremendous achievements in\ndifficult circumstances of war, conflict, uprisings, Brexit and the COVID-19\npandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by its International\nAdvisory Board of policymakers, practitioners and academics across the globe,\nGCRF COMPASS fosters excellence through successful research integration, policy\nimpact and community engagement. Despite the complex challenges both in the UK\nand the region, the project team, represented in the region by national team\nleads &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/ms-nargiz-ismayilova\/\">Nargiz\nIsmayilova<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/dr-artsiom-nazaranko\/\">Artsiom\nNazaranka<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/dr-munira-shahidi\/\">Munira\nShahidi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/person\/dr-ulugbeck-khasanov\/\">Ulugbeck\nHasanov<\/a> &#8211; has built close relationships, resulting <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/outputs\/new-funding\/\">in new\nresearch projects<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/compass-research-training-schools\/\">international\ntraining schools for Early Career Scholars<\/a>,\n<a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/events\/forums\/\">Future\nLeaders Policy Forums<\/a>, academic <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/events\/workshops\/\">workshops<\/a>\nand <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/compass-research-wips\/\">seminars<\/a>\nand <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/events\/conferences\/\">signature\nconferences<\/a>. The result has been <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/outputs\/new-partnerships\/\">educational\npartnerships<\/a> and the project outputs have informed peace and\nreconciliation between former adversaries and investing in a more sustainable\nfuture for the region and beyond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project team helped its\npartners, both in the UK and the region, to nurture signature specialisms to\nbecome global hubs in <strong>resilience<\/strong> (Kent and Cambridge), <strong>migration <\/strong>(Belarus),\n<strong>connectivity<\/strong> (Azerbaijan), <strong>regional security<\/strong> (Uzbekistan) and <strong>cultural\ndiplomacy<\/strong> (Tajikistan). The <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/outputs\/\">project has produced<\/a>\n9 monographs and edited volumes; 6 Special Issues; over 100 journal articles\nand policy briefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Professor Korosteleva<\/strong> said: \u2018<em>We are\ndelighted that the GCRF COMPASS project has been shortlisted for <strong>International\nCollaboration of the Year<\/strong>. GCRF COMPASS has succeeded to deliver, in spite\nof the Covid-19 pandemic, civil unrest, border conflicts, war and other complex\nchallenges. Exceeding ambitions, the project has produced nearly 300\npublications, 7 follow-up projects, with over 40 virtual conferences and\nworkshops in the last year alone. We are proud to have created sustainable\nlinks within the region, which were impossible a few years ago and proved that\nreal partnerships build true resilience. We look forward to expanding our\nresearch network in the future, to foster excellence in the UK, and globally<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Saxena<\/strong> ( Cambridge), Project CO-I said that \u2018<em>the opportunity offered by this collaborative endeavor\nhas allowed us to draw together multiple threads of research directions,\nrelationships and capacity from across Central Eurasia, UK and Europe into long-lasting\nstrategies for development and progress.
