Today, on May 1, 2025, the ТNU hosted an educational and awareness-raising festival under the title “Football – a Key Factor in Strengthening Peace and Promoting Public Health.” The event was organized in celebration of World Football Day, observed annually on May 25. The initiative for this festival came from the President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) and the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali, and is being carried out based on a relevant resolution of the United Nations.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs, the Executive Authority of Dushanbe, the Football Federation of Tajikistan, as well as university professors and students.
As part of the event, a special exhibition corner was set up in the University’s Sports Complex, showcasing football-related equipment and memorabilia highlighting the history of football and the achievements of university teams. Guests had the opportunity to explore the display. Moreover, to encourage young children to engage in sports, the children of university staff participated in the event wearing sportswear.
The Football Marathon – an educational and awareness festival – commenced with the National Anthem of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In his speech, the University Rector, Professor Nasriddinzoda E.S., highlighted the sports-oriented policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali. He noted that, in line with this policy, the university has established the football team “Somon,” which has achieved notable success. Additionally, to promote sports, university-wide competitions titled “Best Poem about Football” and “Best Article about Football” were announced, with the submission deadline set for May 24, 2025.
Members of the “Somon” football team were awarded Certificates of Honor by the university rector and event guests.
Following a cultural performance by the university ensemble “Navruz,” a mini-football tournament among the university’s structural divisions and faculties began. It was announced that this competition is held for the “Rector’s Cup of the ТNU.”
It is worth noting that during the football marathon (from May 1 to May 24, 2025), various sports competitions and educational-sports events will be held across university departments in accordance with the approved plan.
