EMOMALI RAHMON – FOUNDER OF FOREIGN POLICY AND MODERN DIPLOMACY OF TAJIKISTAN

Today (11.05.2023) the first scientific and theoretical conference was held in the Scientific-Research Center of the Leader of the Nation, which operates at the National University of Tajikistan. The Conference was attended by the leadership, young scientists and researchers of the University.

Rector of the university, professor Khushvakhtzoda K.Kh.  in his introductory speech, added that our country has achieved great success in its domestic and foreign policy. All this is the result of the efforts of the honorable people of the country within the visionary and wise policy of the founder of national peace and unity – the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.

“During the early years of independence, the Republic of Tajikistan did not have at its disposal any effective institutions, the necessary material and technical infrastructure to implement an active foreign policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, as an institution implementing foreign policy, existed only symbolically, neither from the point of view of the leadership, administration, nor from the point of view of quality content, the generation of national diplomats had not yet been formed. The development of foreign policy and modern diplomacy of Tajikistan began with the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the country. It was the election of Honorable Emomali Rahmon as the Head of State in this historic session that laid the foundation for solving the internal issue and establishing mutually beneficial relations with foreign states and organizations,” -the university Rector emphasized.

At the same time, the Director of the Research Center of the Leader of the Nation J. Sharifov, who was the organizer of this conference, spoke about the importance of holding this conference and expressed that the role of the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon is very significant in the implementation of the  main goals and methods of foreign policy and national diplomacy of Tajikistan. The main methods of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan were described in the “Message to the Noble People of Tajikistan” after the Session.

Thus, in the continuation of the conference, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University Slavic University, Saidov Homid delivered speech on the topic “Formation of the system of foreign policy and consular services in the period of independence of the country”, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations of the National university of Tajikistan,  Samiev Kholmahmad reported on the topic  “Study of a complex peace process of Tajiks: the importance and necessity of its presentation” and the Head of the department of modern history and modern foreign countries of the university Ibrohimova Gavharbonu gave a presentation on the topic “The importance of the international initiatives of the Leader of the nation in the development and improvement of the social and economic life of Tajikistan”.

It should be noted that the realistic policy of establishing diplomatic relations with 180 countries of the world, the opening of 30 diplomatic missions of the Republic of Tajikistan abroad and at regional and international organizations, the opening of more than 50 diplomatic missions of foreign countries and regional and international organizations in Tajikistan, the annual exchange of goods and products with more than 100 countries of the world and, most importantly, the presentation of international initiatives, especially on the issue of water, reflects cooperation in the field of water and its transformation into an important factor of sustainable economic development.

It was said that today, the Republic of Tajikistan is recognized at the international level,  as an initiative-taking State on solving major global issues, such as the fight against terrorism and extremism, illegal drug trafficking, disarmament, environmental protection, especially the protection of glaciers, which are considered the main source of drinking water.
