International conference on Framework of engagement: Afghanistan in focus of Central and South Asian Nations

On March 4th, 2022 the opening ceremony of the International conference on “Framework of engagement: Afghanistan in focus of Central and South Asian Nations ” jointly organized by Indian Institute of management Rohtak and Tajik National University took place at Tajik National University.

The conference was attended by Rector of the University, Professor Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht, Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, Director IIM Rohtak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Tajikistan Viraj Singh, Mr. M J Akbar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament & Former External Affairs Minister, Mr. Shahmahmood Miakhel, Former Governor of Nangarhar and First Deputy/Acting Minister of Defence, Afghanistan, Prof. Dr. Ambassador (Ret.) Abdusamat Khaydarov, Professor of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies & Former political affairs division, UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Prof. Vadim B. Kozyulin, Head, Center of Global Studies and International Relations, The Instiute of Contemporary Internal Studies, Diplomatic Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler, Coordinator, ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and Taliban Monitoring Team, United Nations Security Council, New York, Samiev Kholakhmad Davlatovich Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, teachers and students of Tajik National University.

The conference began with a video message of the President of Tajikistan on the issue of Afghanistan.

Professor Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht welcomed the guests of Tajik National University and noted that Alma mater had always had the pleasure of hosting such meetings. He wished the guests two days of fruitful and mutually useful discussions.

The conference consists of four main sections: Finding innovative methods of engagement in conflict situations; De-radicalisation and peace in Central and South Asia through non-standard methods; Out of the box ideas for inter-regional cooperation for peace and economic development; Novel ideas for countering drugs and terrorism network.

The conference will last until March 5th, 2022.
